Red Bull Basement University Startup Speaker Series

I had the most amazing time at the Red Bull x Icehouse Ventures Speaker Session on Friday 🤩

Thanks to Steph Benseman and the team for organising, Ezel Kokcu for hosting, and honoured to be sharing the panel with Angus Pauley of Startup Dunedin and Fia Jones of Astrix Astronautics 😍

Some great learnings:

💡 Entrepreneurship is not an easy path. There are a lot of challenges you will have to overcome, and at the end of the day, what will see you through it is your “why” for doing this and your strong passion for the problem you are solving.

💡 It’s alright for your product/ idea to look nothing like your initial one, in fact, it should be expected. The key is to keep iterating and improving, so best to not get attached to one version.

💡 Sometimes what we do can start to become our personality trait, eg if people hear you’re starting a startup, they will start to associate that with you more and more. And if it doesn’t go well, it can make you feel like a failure because you’re so attached to it. So what should you do? Know yourself well and ignore other people’s opinions, see everything as a learning experience, and don’t be consumed by just one thing.
